Andrew Davis

The irrepressible Andrew Davis, whose luxury Von Essen Hotels Group went into administration in 2011, when the banks called in a 250 million loan, is on his way back.

Famous for his lavish celebrity party to celebrate Dame Shirley Bassey's 70th Birthday, at his then Cliveden Hotel, his helicopters and Rolls Royces ferried in the VIP guests. The energetic entrepreneur has now seen 20 of his portfolio of 27 hotels sold off.

Cliveden has now been sold to billionaire brothers Richard and Ian Livingstone. Andrew Davis has also sold Battersea Heliport to David and Simon Reuben for 35 million.

In order to transport himself in the style to which he has become accustomed, the smooth Hotelier has bought the Rolls 1966 Phantom V from his friend Michael Winner. The larger than life Hotel and Restaurant critic and author, awarded Andrew Davis, Winners Dinners Best UK Hotel Group of The Year 2009, before Von Essen's demise.

Frank Carson

Brilliant Comedian Frank Carson passed away on 22 February. I photographed him over many years, mostly at The Dorchester on Park Lane, with stars who are now in their senior years, and always raising laughter from the audience. "It's the way I tell 'em" will be echoing from that stage in the sky.
