RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019

14th June 2019

As the RHS Chelsea Flower Show comes to a close, the crews move in to demolish the lovingly built gardens, level out the ground, lay lawns and restore the grounds of the Royal Hospital in Chelsea to their pre-show state. It is a time to reflect on the impact of the Show, and the success of the beautiful gardens created by skilled designers and their teams.

Regular Chelsea designers again worked their magic to create spectacular gardens, with Andy Sturgeon designing the sponsor M & G’s Garden, winning the accolade of Best in Show. However, the 2019 Show introduced some incredible new designers, foremost of which was the Duchess of Cambridge with her RHS Back To Nature Garden inspired by childhood memories.

The childhood theme was also paramount in The Montessori Centenary Children’s Garden, designed for the Charity by first-time designer, Jody Lidgard, in the Space to Grow category. The children who visited it loved the special place for solitude beneath the classroom, and their own door into the greenhouse. The Charity was delighted to be awarded a Gold Medal.
