Sir Dai Llewellyn Remembered
700 family and friends came together at St Pauls in Belgravia to
celebrate the life of Sir Dai Llewellyn.
The day started with a lively lunch at Frontoio in Chelsea, organised by
Ingrid Seward, and progressed to the church, adorned with daffodils, for a
beautiful service.
Guests went on to Pucci Pizza in Chelsea,
where the celebrating continued with a few
glasses of wine, something of which Sir Dai
would have thoroughly approved.
He was a unique Bon Viveur, who brought
colour to people’s lives, and especially to the
ladies in his life. There was always a “Hello
Old Bean” and a joie de vivre which he added to
each event. A prolific drinker, he seemed always
in control, and could frequently be found at
Michael Proudlock’s legendary Chelsea Restaurant
Foxtrot Oscar, on a Friday afternoon, exchanging
gossip with Nigel Dempster and Rupert Deen.
In his own words, he would have remarked that
the day of tributes had all gone “Frightfully
well”.
He is succeeded by his brother Sir Roddy
Llewellyn.
