The Royal Society of Portrait Painters
Eminent Members and their guests converged on The Mall to have an early
look at some really interesting portraits in the annual exhibition, and to
hear former Speaker, Baroness Betty Boothroyd, call everyone to order.
She has lost none of her style, or authority.
The distinguished Bruce Forsyth, accompanied
by his ever glamorous wife Wilnelia, came
to see Michael Noakes’ sketches. Bruce
confessed that, although much photographed, he
had never before, sat for a portrait.
Lord Chris Patten came to admire his likeness,
while the Duchess of Cornwall’s picture gazed in
the direction of Lord Geoffrey Howe, who was
glancing at Baroness Margaret Thatcher….in oil.
